Banks County Schools

Banks County Schools are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. From Pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, students have many opportunities to expand their knowledge and explore special interests.

The system emphasizes a strong background in "basics" and provides programs in gifted, remedial, and special education. Banks County teachers, a high percentage of whom have advanced degrees, use a variety of teaching methods and materials to enhance the basic educational program.

Educational opportunities beyond the secondary level are all within comfortable commuting distance. Career training programs are available at several surrounding colleges and universities. Surrounding counties with colleges offering technical and business programs are Lanier Technical Institute at Oakwood (27 miles), Gainesville College, a four-year college (25 miles), the University of Georgia at Athens (31 miles).
