Planning Director Randy Knighton explains changes.
GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Planning Commission Monday night approved a resolution to adopt the official county zoning map in electronic format.
Planning Director Randy Knighton explained that the official Hall County zoning maps consist of 31 sheets of mylar paper. When anything is changed on those maps a draftsman must manually go in to each map and change it.
The new resolution will allow easier editing to the zoning maps as they will be stored electronically. The new Geographic Information System (GIS) software, will allow maps to be scaled to any size, and they are also printed in color.
Knighton said, “Obviously the clarity is much greater, easier to maintain, we would like to go ahead and move to an electronic version for official zoning.”
USED CAR LOT APPLICATION
Despite some reservations about part of the plan, planners recommended approval of a used car lot on Dawsonville Highway.
Applicant Greg Sexton was requesting a conditional use permit to sell used cars and tires.
The property is located on the east side of Dawsonville Highway near Boleman Road.
Commission members were concerned with the planned hours of operation and stipulated that the maximum number of cars on the lot at any one time be limited to 20.
The Hall County Board of Commissioners will have the final say and could vote as early as March 25.
