Victims of overnight wrecks identifiedBy Katie Crumley Access Insider UNDATED - A 59-year-old Baldwin man and a 29-year-old from Helen lost their lives Tuesday night in two separate accidents in the area.
Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire said Marion Rober Vonier, 59, of Baldwin was killed in the Habersham County crash around 8:55 p.m. It happened on Georgia 384 roughly three miles from the White County line. Officials with the Georgia State Patrol said his vehicle left the roadway, hit a tree and caught fire. McEntire said Vonier was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said Charles Dean Shahan, 29, of Helen was killed around 11:30 p.m. when his car left Georgia 356 near Clayton Road in Helen.
