CARNESVILLE - Investigators have yet to name any suspects in last week's break-in at the Franklin County Judicial Center.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said they still don't know who broke into the probate and magistrate court judges' offices last Thursday night and stole an undetermined amount of cash and checks.

"We do have some people of interest that we've interviewed and some more we're going to talk to, but at this time we're still in the interview stages," he said.

The money that was stolen from the vaults would have come from cash paid for county fines and tickets.

Thomas said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.

"The GBI was called because it is county funds that's missing," Thomas said. "Then the auditors were later called to do an audit to determine the amount of money that was taken."

Thomas said he is still waiting for that total.

He said the Franklin County Judicial Center does not currently have an alarm system or security cameras in place.
