FLOWERY BRANCH -Governor Sonny Perdue paid a surprise early morning visit on Monday to the Aviation Club at Davis Middle School.
Perdue was invited by the school's aviation club sponsor, Jim Greer, who is an acquaintance of the Governor’s pilot.
The Governor took time to share his love of aviation with the club. Perdue has a commercial pilot's license.
Greer says the club at Davis may be the only middle school aviation club in the nation that has taken on the construction of an airplane as their primary project.
Greer, who is also a counselor at the school, said the the aircraft was beginning to take shape. "We have the rear portion of the fuselage just about completely put together."
Student members who have a keen interest in the field of aviation meet in the mornings at Davis.
