Ralston fires way into third place after opening round

DOTHAN, Ala. -- Gainesville's Spencer Ralston fired an even par 70 on Sunday at the Future Masters Junior Golf Tournament in Dothan, Ala., playing his way into a tie for third place in the 13-14-year-old age division.

Ralston is one stroke behind leaders Anton Serafini of Lake Mary, Fla., and Hunter Dunagan of Martinez, who both shot 69 to capture the lead.

Ralston shot 32 on the back nine, rebounding from a 3-over performance on the front nine.

Ralston, a rising freshman at with the Red Elephants, entered the major junior golf tournament after a successful week, winning three consecutive Atlanta Junior Golf Tournaments in the 13-14 open division.

Ralston carded a 1-under 71 at Royal Lakes last Monday, a 3-over 73 at Mossy Creek on Tuesday and a 3-under 68 on Thursday at Chestatee Golf Club.
