New B&B opens in North Hall area
CLERMONT – The Inn at Magnolia Oaks, an elegant four-suite bed-and-breakfast, officially opened its doors to guests on May 25th. Innkeepers Terry and Marie Dawson said they have created a unique blend of old and new that allows visitors to enjoy the grace and romance of another time with all the modern conveniences of today.
Magnolia Oaks was constructed five years ago as a replica of Marie Dawson’s grandparents’ home place.
“We spent summers and holidays in this wonderful house always filled with great food and family,” Marie said.
“The farm and house were our 'Disneyworld.' We adored sitting on the porches in the evenings, listening to the adults tell stories of times past.” She said this is the experience she and her husband have created for their guests – the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet of time spent just relaxing.
The Dawsons said visitors are greeted with beautiful gardens, white columns and a wrap-around porch. Inside the Inn, they said no detail has been overlooked.
Among the features are a library with a fireplace and overstuffed chairs, a ladies’ parlor and a guest lounge. The innkeepers said they have uniquely decorated and furnished four upstairs guest suites. Each room is named for one set of the Dawson’s grandparents: the Goodwin-Aldridge room is decorated in shades of brown and green and has a separate sitting room and alcove bed; the Granberry-Hill room is the largest of the four suites, decorated in pink and white with a king-size brass bed and a six-foot soaking tub; the Dawson-Goss room boasts an arched canopy bed and another six-foot soaking tub; and the Burgess-Parker room is decorated in shades of blue and yellow, features a feather bed and has a view of the sunrise.
