Cracker-fly in comes to town Saturday

GAINESVILLE - The 44th edition of the Cracker Fly-in comes to Gainesville's Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport Saturday.

The gates open at 7:00 and the event will continue until 4:00.

Early arrivals can enjoy a pancake breakfast for $5 and a barbecue lunch will also be available later in the day.

Sponsored by Chapter 611 of the Experimental Aircraft Associated (EAA), the annual event features all types of aircraft from World Word I vintage bi-planes to World War II workhorses, helicopters, and a large array of private planes, including home-built varieties.

Trophies will be awarded in all classes.

Enter the airport grounds via Palmour Drive off Queen City Parkway near I-985. Admission is a $2 per person donation; under 12, free.
