Authorities investigating fatal motorcycle wreck in ToccoaBy Rob Moore Editor TOCCOA – A Toccoa man died as a result of a motorcycle wreck near Walmart in Toccoa Monday night.
“Monday night at 9:44 p.m., Toccoa Police Department was called to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 17 at its intersection with Memorial Drive,” said Assistant Police Chief Tim Jarrell. “When officers arrived, they found a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle with one rider lying in the roadway on Highway 17.” “The rider was transported by ambulance to Stephens County Hospital,” Jarrell said. “Once at the hospital, he apparently died from his injuries received in the accident.” Jarrell identified the victim as Ian Gregory Norcross, 44, of Toccoa. Jarrell said Norcross was born in Blackburn, England. “The accident is still being investigated by the police department, and we’re working with the Stephens County Coroner’s Office to obtain additional medical information and some other stuff,” Jarrell said. According to Whitlock Mortuary in Toccoa, the Norcross family will have a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Great Western Hospital (NHS) Foundation, Marlborough Road, Swindon, Wiltshire SN36BB; or to the North Georgia Soccer Association, 4231 Toccoa Highway, Clarkesville, GA 30523. © Copyright 2013 AccessNorthGa.com
